Cats Love To Climb

When you go around the house looking
for your cat, there’s a good chance you’ll find him somewhere up
high. Unlike dogs who can often be found napping on the carpet or
floor (or in some cases on the sofa), cats prefer the higher
locations in the house. The best way to get to those locations? Why,
climbing of course.
Being able to climb is an important
part of feline life. In an outdoor setting it’s crucial to survival
because the cat can climb a tree or fence to escape an opponent.
Climbing to an elevated location is also how a cat is better able to
survey the environment.
Climbing is also
good exercise and let’s face it, to a cat, climbing is just plain
fun. To avoid having kitty use your drapes as a way to practice his
climbing skills, provide him with allowable climbing structures in
the form of a cat tree, window perches, wall-mounted cat shelves or
access to other furniture such as a sturdy bookcase. Your cat will
love being able to stretch his muscles, test his balance and look out
over the room from his high perch.
Does your cat look for the highest
perch in the room?
