Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Well, maybe just the tigers. And perhaps it’s more like Tiger’s, because there sure are a lot of them out there!

We’ve compiled a list of the most popular Explorer cat names to see how it compares to the national favorites. Check and see if you’re cat’s name made either of the lists:

Explorer Top 10
1. Tiger
2. Kitty
3. Smokey*
4. Tigger*
5. Baby
6. Shadow*
7. Oreo*
8. Princess*
9. Midnight
10. Lucky
National Top 10**
1. Lucy
2. Molly
3. Oreo*
4. Kittens
5. Smokey*
6. Princess*
7. Shadow*
8. Tigger*
9. Angel
10. Missy

*Names that made both Top 10 lists
**A survey done by PetFinder.com in 2008

While the lists are slightly different, five of the ten names – Smokey, Tigger, Shadow, Oreo and Princess – are on both. Surprisingly, my cat’s name – Sir Beef Wellington – wasn’t on either of them!

Is your cat’s name on the list? Any names that surprised you?

None of our 12 feral rescues have popular names, but they are unique. We have: Junior, Buttercup, Scratchy, Garfield, Odie, Mooch, SaraSara, Baby Girl, Rascal, Stripes, Mittens, and Maxine. We have always fed Friskies Ocean dry food, and have had kitties live into their 20s. They all love Friskies Party Mix. I wish we could buy it in bulk. Only one of our kitties is an outdoor cat, she is our barn kitty, but can be petted. Three are indoor/outdoor, eight are strictly indoor.

Third on the list is Raja. We found her at the vet's office looking forlorn and lonely. She had been left there because her owner couldn't keep her.
